From Lynn 11/24/08 Day 14

Greeting from 1242. I've emerged from the fog and delighted to report that all is doing well. prognoses are difficult as yet but i'm told i'm moving in the right direction. Everything they say about the challenges of chemo are true, but i will spare the details for you. will i do it again and again if necessary?... you bet. Brushing my teeth and slurping down a bit of chicken soup were beautiful moments and a shower is nothing less than glorious.
My heart swells with the love and support that descend from every direction and each of you must know that you contribute to my smiles and ability to continue moving forward each day.
Thank you!!!

Lynn,

We are glad to hear your positive energy.

Here is a bit of humor for you. As I was reading your latest note, I read the following - "Brushing my teeth and slurping down a bit of chicken soup". Of course I was trying to envision the picture - I know Chemo brings out some strange cravings and behaviors, but I had never thought of brushing teeth and slurping down chicken soup (thinking at the same time). Ok, it is evening and my creative mind is going - what can I say.

Keep positive, keep laughing, and remember the experiences.

Oh and here is another visual picture for you. My portacath would clog, and that is how they injected my chemo "cocktails". So they would have me raise one arm, then the other, then twist while raising one arm, then lean while raising the other. I am not sure if the gestures were for uncloging the portacath or for their amusement! They could get me going for several minutes though. :-)

Take care,

Tammy

I think about you everytime I play, swim, bike, etc. Now, it will be everytime I brush my teeth! You are inspirational, as always! I am adding this blog to things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving. Love, Mardi

Hi Lynn - You look GREAT! Everyone in Room 22 was so happy to see your smiling face and read that you are doing well.
The conferences went very well and the wonderful letters you included (each one so positive, thoughtful and full of inspiration - just like you) about your students were very much appreciated by all.
We all miss you and send hugs and love...

Slightly stupid, but timely.

The Parrot

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary.

Every word out of the bird's' mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hand, grabbed the bird by the neck and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said,

"I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior"

John was stunned at the change in the birds behavior and attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had caused such a dramatic change in his behavior the bird continued

"May I ask what the turkey did?"

Have a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Lynn,
So great to see you smiling and hear your insight on this journey you are on. Wishing you all the love, luck and quick recovery!

We had Jake's conference yesterday and I appreciate your powerful positive words you had for him, you really do find the positive in each student and that is why you are such a favorite among your students and their parents!

Keep smiling and keep believing in yourself and the inner strength you have, that is so clear to all of us!

Hi Lynn,
How great to see your smiling face! I miss that so much, as does Nicole (and all of room 22!) Your personal note about Nicole in our conference was very special and I can't believe you had the energy for that.... actually, yes I can because that is the kind of person you are- you truly care about "your kids" and it shows in every way. Phyllis is doing a wonderful job holding down the fort while you are out; take good care and know that we are sending lots of positive vibes and prayers your way.
Lots of Hugs,
Tracy-
